I greatly appreciated the use of one-bowl recipes and learning apricot jam is one of her secret ingredients, it shows up in many recipes and how she uses it applied to warm cakes before frosting is genius. I freely admit that I have a *thing* for the British, and especially anything dealing with British cuisine, and for good reason.I fretted it about it so much that I decided to consult some more experienced baker friends and even some online recipes. Most of the recipes in the Baking Bible are traditional and they are written clearly and concisely, making them easy to follow even when there is no picture. I won't rate/review a cookbook until I actually try a recipe so the first recipe I tried was The Pavlova. The book is also appropriate for all levels of bakers but novice cooks may struggle a bit with certain recipes. Recipes we love: Frosted Walnut Cake, Hot Chocolate Soufflés, Victoria Sponge, Paprika and Cheese Biscuits, and The Very Best Shortbread.

Break the egg into a liquid measuring cup, then add milk until the mixture totals about ⅔ cup (150 ml). Don’t be put off by the need to use a piping bag, as the recipe is pretty easy and worth a little bit of effort. I will say straight-up that this is not a one for beginners, nor is it organized to be approachable for beginners.Not having used chocolate much for cooking, I followed the recipe which said to add 1T water (with coffee granules dissolved in it) to the melted chocolate. What’s it about: Mary Berry’s Baking Bible was first published in 2009 and quickly became an essential guide for bakers of all levels. The cake and frosting all came together, but this did not make for a rich indulgent chocolate experience. I for one am a huge fan, I have long been swept away by the GBBO wave and have no desire to get off it!
