I’ve described the game as simple a few times, but that is in no way a bad thing. Having a rulebook you can read from cover to cover in under ten minutes is incredibly refreshing. But just because the rules are simple, doesn’t mean the game is an easy ride, which once again adds to its repeat playability. Playing your game of #bagofdungeon with the supplied (and very cute) game meeples is all very well, a lovely transportable solution but why not try it with the #NEW official Bag of Dungeon character figures? Spruce up your adventure with the full 8 character set, designed specifically for the character cards in your game and ready to play, paint or just put on the mantlepiece. Play classic dungeon adventurers – elves, dwarves, fighters and healers. Find magical items, potions and weapons to help you in your quest. Work cooperatively to defeat the dungeon together, or turn on your friends to make fame and fortune yours alone. If it’s building out a weird dungeon one tile at a time, then you’re all set. Although, of course, you don’t get to be the monsters in Bag of Dungeon.The biggest problem I found is when you’re down to the last monster or two. I’ve played games of this where one player is much better equipped to beat certain ne’er-do-wells, so the other players just wander around the same few spaces waiting for that player to get over and commence the baddie thumping. In the standard rules, monsters never move from their tile. I picture an elf sitting down and doing a sudoku, waiting for the dwarf to come lumbering down the corridor to fight the monster a few feet away. It can make for an anti-climactic finish to the game. Because the monsters don’t actively chase you, there’s never a reason to not enter a fight with full Action Points, so you can always escape if you need to. PvP An easy to learn fun game that kind of invoked memories of playing D&D with good-quality components, easy to follow rules. I have seen others saying it is too expensive, possibly, but it is a good game. This small yet mighty dungeon crawler uses a simple tile-laying system, allowing players (or player) to create a unique dungeon every time they play. The aim of the game is to traverse the hidden depths of the dungeon, while battling monsters in a bid to find the Ring of Creation and defeat the Red Dragon who guards the exit. Players take on the role of one of four fantasy characters; Elf, Fighter, Healer and Dwarf. Now, I did find the character choices a bit odd as it seems to mix class and race, however functionally, they work well. Brilliantly portable, nice minimalist design and lots of fun. Basic game is highly replayable as different every time; additional Dragon Scroll adventures add further complexity and variety. Have enjoyed playing game with adults and my children, who enjoyed it too.
