Game Informer criticized the voice acting, camera, and animation, claiming, "as explosive as the new combat is, it's all this game has to offer". There are also something like a billion spider icons strewn across the city; picking these up upgrades Spidey’s health, Special meter and swing speed as he levels up, which is also particularly useful as you get further into the game (though it tends to trigger my collectible-focused OCD rather badly, THANKS GUYS). If you'd rather just goof off and explore the city without worrying about advancing the plot you're free to do so.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows offers a lot of different experiences on all of the platforms Activision is releasing it for. In the latter scenario, Black Widow, the Kingpin, the Tinkerer, and Symbiote Wolverine strike an alliance to eliminate Spider-Man.Fans of the older games will find that a lot of the things they liked about those games remain intact, as web-swinging is as easy (and fun) as ever, and the game world is full of random crimes and assaults for you to bust up as needed, allowing you to simply putz around, doing whatever you want instead of focusing on the main plot, which is pretty enjoyable on its own.

This ends up involving Spidey in a non-stop series of events that stretch across New York City and force the involvement of many of his allies and enemies, including Moon Knight, Wolverine, Black Cat, Vulture, Rhino, the Kingpin, and the Tinkerer, among others. Red suit Spider-Man relies mostly on web attacks and speed, where black suit Spider-Man relies entirely on brute strength and raw power. The game begins with Spider-Man and Venom fighting, and we learn fairly early on that this is the Eddie Brock Venom. Neither game has a stable framerate, but the PS3 version of the game was more prone to slowdown in my experience. The DS version has some nice looking environments, but it suffers from a frequently dark color palate that can make it difficult to pick out much detail.

In the beginning, we see that the Venom symbiote is splintering, releasing smaller versions of itself into the world, one of which attaches itself to Spider-Man during a battle between the two. Using motion controls to swing around Manhattan is a decent amount of fun, but some of the other motion controls don't work as well.

Like in the other versions, Spider-Man has both his traditional red and blue suit and his symbiote black suit, which the player can switch between at any time during gameplay and which offer different playstyles (the red suit provides faster movement and attacks, whereas the black suit is slower, but has more devastating attacks). If they helped either Nightcrawler twice or both him and the Green Goblin once, Manhattan is saved and the citizens are freed from the symbiotes' control, praising Spider-Man, who thinks of taking a shower after having gone to the sewers twice in a day. Players Can Customize Their Ideal Spider-Man: Players earn experience in multiple combat disciplines, allowing them to custom-design their ideal Spider-Man. From the game's direction to Spider-Man's destiny, Spider-Man™: Web of Shadows puts control in the gamer's hands. The story is solid and mostly well written (If occasionally stupid and COMPLETELY out of continuity), the presentation is top notch across the board, and the game is simply fun and amazing to play. PS3 has supposedly better controls (that's a user prefrence type thing) and sharper graphics, but as far as content goes, no. Every Choice Counts: Dependant on the gamer's actions and decisions, a morality meter will gauge whether citizens cheer Spider-Man on or run away in fear. He also explains that Spider-Man's previous encounters with the symbiote gives him more control over it, though he warns him that the symbiote can still influence his behavior. Massive Spider-man fan, none of the games have really lived up to my childhood memories but since the new film has hit I thought I'd give this a go.

Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a fun, fast paced, enjoyable game that is unfortunately hurt by some odd technical issues, which keep it from achieving true greatness. Spider Man: Web of Shadows for Microsoft Xbox 360 is an action-adventure game with sandbox and RPG elements. On the plus side, this game has Spider-Man and Wolverine, and is probably less problematic on the Wii. Reddit and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to provide you with a better experience. Spider-Man: Web of Shadows is a beat-em-up video game, released to the Xbox 360 in the USA on October 21, 2008.Combined with a multiple ending storyline, an upgradable character, and the ability to carry over experience from one playthrough to the next, Web of Shadows has strong aspirations of greatness that it ALMOST manages to fulfill.
