Due to the ageing process of whisky involving the charing of the inside of the barrels, charcoal may be present on the inside of some of our products. As the barrels are reclaimed, they are all individual in appearance and size, making them a unique and individual addition to any garden or home. Wine barrels are approximately 950mm tall (just over 3ft) and 680mm (27″) wide at their widest point, around the middle/belly of the barrel. In this instance, please mix a tablespoon of sodium percarbonate or soda carbonate per gallon of water to make a cleaning solution.

Inside of the whiskey barrels and large wine barrels will be charred, which creates the smokey flavour of the whisky. Used wooden barrels: Notches in the wood or, in certain circumstances, an uneven base, do not constitute a quality defect, but stem from the idiosyncrasies of the production method and the prior use of the barrels.
