About this deal

In short, I absolutely LOVED reading ‘Blood Ties’ and I can’t wait to read what comes next from Heather Burnside. I thought that the way that the book switched from present events to the memories of Julie was greatly effective and gave me the information I needed to piece the story together without being overwhelming or boring. He smiled disarmingly, and Beth noticed it made him look even more handsome with his perfect white teeth. As their relationship progressed, they decided to pool their resources and upgrade to a three-bedroom detached home in the more affluent area of Marple. Another exciting read from this author … brilliant can't wait to see if there's another one in the series .

It was cold, and the rain that had fallen throughout the previous week had turned the ground to a sludgy mess. The lady and her dog passed by, and Beth was finally able to get Rex to come out of his hiding place behind her legs and continue walking. Immediately, the threatening bulk of the man was on top of her, his evil eyes staring back at her and his ragged face full of menace. I greatly enjoyed the two very different personalities of Julie and her friend Rita and though that the ending fitted well.Netgalley Reviewer, ***** 'A great book, has twists and turns, its exciting and i couldnt put it down, highley recommend. As Beth moves on from her trauma with new husband Brady , she seems a happy, successful career girl. Suddenly it dawned on Beth that he must be the manager, and she became embarrassed by her abrasiveness.

The path was narrower here, the shrubbery denser, and the branches of the mature trees spread widely, almost meeting on either side of the path and blocking out most of the light.Being a big fan of realism I also appreciate the way the book doesnt pull any punches; the ending leaves you reeling. The piece of furniture had been carefully selected by both of them to give the place a cool retro vibe. Frantic now, Beth carried on battling her way towards Rex till she had almost reached the end of the clump of bushes. As she drew close to it, Rex’s barking grew more insistent, and she knew he was aware of her presence.

One look at the muddy path and she hesitated, almost turning back, but she could feel Rex straining at the leash. The new home suited Brady, who was aspirational and liked the fact that he was now residing in Marple. His hair was going grey, and he was muscle-bound and rugged looking, whereas she preferred her men more sophisticated and slimmer like her husband. But he senses she is harbouring something dark… And when the truth is finally revealed, Brady blackmails Beth into bankruptcy. As much as I liked Slur, you can tell that Gangster’s Grip is Burnside’s second novel as it feels a little more polished and well-paced.Burnside is also good at this, and is so skilled in creating relatable characters and believable dialogue. Heather now works full-time on her novels from her home in Manchester, which she shares with her two grown-up children.
