About this deal
A full sized fountain pen made of tough plastic with a reasonable selection of colours and colour combinations it certainly peaks my interest. This pen has a nice grip, my nib choice was medium which bring nice smooth strokes of ink to the page. Looking at the section and there can be no doubt the Perkeo is aimed at young students as there is very prominent moulding to force a tripod grip. If this isn’t quite your cup of tea, but almost… If you like the Kaweco look but want something pocket-sized, of course there’s the trusty Sport – while if you want an entry-level German fountain pen but can’t find a Perkeo, the Pelikano occupies similar territory.
This pen boasts a classic look with its cylindrical body and simple lines, reminiscent of fountain pens from the early 20th century. The Perkeo has been around for a while with some interesting colour schemes, however recently more colours have been added to the mix as well as a demonstrator finish, which is this pen.
I went for the fine nib as was worried the medium might be a little too heavy/thick for my handwriting style. We go to great lengths to bring you the brands we know you love and we've been happily doing this since the very beginning of our journey. The cap is a snap fit, which is nice and convenient but I found the feel on closing to be a bit… imprecise.
If you look carefully, although the nib widths may be the same, the style of nib in the Perkeo set is far more rounded at the outer edges. Since the UK left the EU in January 2021, the way international shipments are dealt with by Customs has changed. I don't quite understand why any pen manufacturer would fit their product in such a way to limit their audience, but there you go.The only way is ethics Kaweco manufactures primarily in Germany so we have no concerns around labour conditions.
