About this deal

Standard nomenclature has these battlesuits categorized by two numbers - the first number denoting which mass class it belongs to, the second its role. For example, in the XV22 Stealth Battlesuit, the first '2' denotes it as a lighter-weight suit, while the second '2' means it is still undergoing field-testing. [2b] Battlesuit Classification

Hunter Cadre teams have access to drones. You can also replace one operative on a Fire Warrior or Pathfinder fire team with one drone operative, or replace a Stealth battlesuit with two drones, chosen from the list below: Pathfinders still have some value in Hunter Cadre teams despite being significantly better in Pathfinder kill teams. They come with the Markerlight unique action built-in and Pulse Carbines, but the tradeoff from fire warriors is that they have worse saves, dropping to 5+. A Pathfinder fire team can include a single heavy gunner, who doesn’t have the markerlight action but has the option to take either an Ion Rifle or Rail Rifle.

Expanding the Empire

Those who will not accept the message of the T’au’va, and who cannot see the benefits of willing assimilation into the T’au Empire, must be rendered compliant through military force. They will still fall, of course, as battlesuit teams drop from the heavens with guns blazing and Hunter Cadres sweep unstoppably from one battlefront to the next. Regrettably, however, such conflicts may reduce the world’s infrastructure to ruins before they are done.If your Crusade force has a number of Military points equal to or higher than that planet’s Military Power, subtract that planet’s Military Power from your Crusade force’s Military points total and your Crusade force takes over that planet. Remember to apply that planet’s Assimilation Abilities when it is taken over.

Finally, there is also one other unique option available to the squad that can’t be bought by any other units in the Tau codex, although if we’re thinking about it’s really more of an upgrade for another unit rather than the Stealth Suits. For 20pts the squad can be equipped with a Homing Beacon, which can be placed at the beginning of the movement phase and allows one unit arriving via Manta Strike to instead make a Low-Altitude Drop (which is the same thing, but they have to be placed wholly within 6″ of the Beacon and don’t care about proximity to the enemy.) The Beacon doesn’t need to be used immediately, but it does short out of the enemy moves within 9″ of it, so you will typically want to be doing so. This used to be a much more powerful option when it could be placed at the end of the movement phase (allowing your Stealths to move over and place it where you wanted it) rather than the beginning; it’s still not wholly worthless, but all things considered it’s probably not an exciting option. Also keep in mind if you’re trying to do some Crisis alpha strike shenanigans that a Low-Altitude Drop is not a Manta Strike, and thus will prevent you from using the Farsight stratagem to get that +1 to hit. All T'au Battlesuits are constructed of a lightweight yet strong nano-crystalline alloy called fio'tak in the T'au Lexicon, which is light, malleable, impact-resistant and corrosion-resistant, reducing the weight of the battlesuit whilst also providing excellent protection. Even the armour's shape helps deflect solid projectiles, while a reflective liquid metal coating can reflect medium-grade laser fire. Fire Markerlights (Action): One or more MARKERLIGHT units from your army can start to perform this action at the start of your Movement phase. AIRCRAFT MARKERLIGHT units can perform this action. The action is completed at the start of your next Shooting phase. If this action is successfully completed, for each model in that unit that is equipped with one or more markerlights, for each markerlight that model is equipped with, select one enemy unit within 36" of that model that would be an eligible target for that model if its unit had been selected to shoot, and roll one D6: on a 3+, that enemy unit gains one Markerlight token.’ T'au Battlesuits are only piloted by those Fire Warriors who have proven themselves in battle and completed their first Trial by Fire to earn the Fire Caste rank of shas'ui. Often, the first battlesuits that Fire Warriors learn to pilot are the XV15 and/or the XV25 Stealthsuit, to complete their training in the arts of infiltration and ambush that they began as Pathfinders. Once their time utilising a Stealthsuit is complete, they are then given the honour of piloting an XV8 Crisis Battlesuit and becoming a member of the Fire Caste's elite.

Fire Warriors

XV22; an experimental stealthsuit worn by Commander Shadowsun. The XV22 is a much more advanced system than the XV25 in current use. Currently in field testing stage Only the greatest commanders and warriors are assigned experimental weaponry or even entirely unique battlesuits. Such prototypes have turned the tide of many battles where the T'au Empire might have suffered grievous defeats without their pilots' intervention. In the hands of their esteemed wielders, their equipment can become the stuff of legends within the T'au Empire, for the tools and weapons heroes use to accomplish their greatest deeds are tied to their stores. That tenet must be selected from a list corresponding to a Sector that is adjacent (as shown on the map below) to the one you selected your first tenet from.

A battlesuit usually requires only one pilot, and often has much the same firepower as a tank or aircraft. When a cadre comprised of heavy battlesuits is deployed, it can change the course of a war. T'au Battlesuits are worn only by veteran T'au Fire Warriors, and vary in size, shape and tactical role. There are a variety of different models of T'au Battlesuits, each geared towards a different battlefield role. Below is a list of the most common available combat support systems that an XV25 Stealthsuit can be armed with: The advancement of T'au Battlesuits has mirrored the rate at which the T'au have expanded across the galaxy. The earliest prototypes were field-tested during the early stages of the First Sphere Expansion, and although they were successful, the going was slow. In 576.M39, improvements in anti-gravitic motors were combined with relatively new T'au Battlesuit technology at the time to form the first T-Series Battlesuits, which helped the Fire Caste complete the annexation of the Tash'var Sept.If they succeed in that demanding role, they will go on to be assigned to a T'au Commander's Battlesuit Bodyguard Team, and eventually will become a T'au Commander themselves once they attains the rank of shas'el. By the time a Fire Caste warrior has reached this stage, they are a veteran of many battles, extremely experienced in the way of mobile warfare and equipped with a set of wargear perfectly suited to support their style of combat. Further service and success in the role of shas'el will then lead to a promotion to the highest Fire Caste rank of shas'o. The Ion Rifle gives you two profiles to choose from, both of which get 5 shots – standard does 4/5 damage with AP1 on crits, while overcharge does 5/6 damage at AP1 and the Hot rule.

Gun Drones are the basic drone in the group, just a flying pod with guns. They come with a Twin pulse carbine that looks the same as a regular pulse carbine but it has the Relentless rule, making them as durable as a Fire Warrior and more accurate. One year in we’ve seen several kill teams from the Compendium be replaced by teams in White Dwarf and other releases, though some Compendium teams are still out there and active. Among these are the Huntre Cadre, the T’au empire kill team from the Compendium. While another T’au kill team released in Chalnath last year – the Pathfinder kill team, the Huntre Cadre has some key differences in that it allows a greater variety of units, giving access to fire warriors and stealth suits. Hunter Cadre Kill TeamsThe result was the X-series Battlesuits, the most successful of which has been, and remains, the XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. At present, T'au Battlesuits have never been more successful, and continual upgrades, different marks and variants, as well as new prototypes are continually being developed to advance the Greater Good.
