About this deal

My only problem is that the Eurohike Sendero 6 is actually a better tent if you consider value for money. If I had the budget that can be stretched a bit I’d go for the Eurohike Sendero 6, no question. The sewn-in groundsheet makes the Sendero 4 more prone to condensation, that builds up on the inside of the flysheet. Polyester does not have great thermal properties, so condensation is very typical of all polyester tents. What you can do is make good use of the air vents – there are plenty of them. If you’d like more, especially if you plan to camp in cooler weather, this Kampa camping heater is more than recommended to fight cold and condensation, or you can find the best camping heaters in this collection: There are 5 vents in total, so this looks quite good. Two of them are high vents on the front, and you also have two floor vents on the sides in the sleeping zone. Yet another very large high vent is on the narrow side behind the sleeping zone. Other features Seasons-wise, in view of its declared waterproof rating, this tent is good enough for any weather conditions in a 3-season use. The Vango Icarus 500 is very similar to the Eurohike Rydal 500 – detailed review of the Vango Icarus 500 can be found here. The Vango is slightly bigger, and slightly pricier, but there is an option to attach a bespoke awning to the Vango Icarus 500 which increases versatility as well as improves weather protection.

Needless to say, a 5-berth tent these days is not for five grown-ups, but rather for a family of five where the children are under 10 years or so, but hey ho… Eurohike Rydal 500 Review There are hanging loops for lanterns, and you also have Velcro tabs to pass and fix a cable at the apex pointon the ceiling. Most "decent" tents start about 4000mm ok the acceptable standard for uk tents is about 1500mm IMMSMC but no harm in been better when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring you dont want to be getting wet... The frond door has zippers on both sides but it does not have at the bottom. This is a design thing and there’s a gap between the groundsheet and the front door on almost every tunnel tent. This is an all-in-one pitch design. This means that the inner tent is preattached so when you raise the shell all inside is ready. Note that the inner tent is also removable and this is easily done if you need it without it.

Eurohike Rydal 500 Review

Inside you have two inner doors for the two sleeping rooms, they are indeed with panels and with mesh for ventilation and protection against insects. The Rydal 500 in the awning configuration. The windows

You have two very large doors with flaps. Note that there is no mesh on these entry doors, pity. The front door allows for an awning configuration with the help of your trekking poles, see the picture below You can put the Eurohike Sendero 6 on the list too, it is bigger than the Rydal 500 but not much bigger, and has great specs. Detailed review of the Eurohike Sendero tents here. You might want to have a look at the 5-person family tents too, as these are slightly roomier than a standard 4-berth tent, and most of them have a divider between the two bedrooms. Interestingly, the Eurohike Rydal 500 is one that I can recommend as it is not at all worse than the Sendero 4, and it’s slightly cheaper too. The groundsheet of the Eurohike Sendero 4 is sewn-in, however it is worth protecting your groundsheet with a carpet and/or a footprint that goes under the tent. Eurohike Sendero 4 Accessories Footprint I touched on it already, the Rydal 500 offers a decent amount of space for an entire family. Sleeping areaThe Eurohike Rydal 500 is perfect for couples – plenty of space both in the bedrooms and in the living area; as well as families of up to 5 (with 3 smaller children).

Size-wise the Eurohike Sendero 4 is average, almost identical in size to Eurohike’s probably most famous air tent, the Eurohike Genus 400 or the lesser know Eurohike Air 400. The front profile is slightly angled. This helps wind reducing wind load on one hand, but makes the front ‘vulnerable’ when it rains: you must close the front door when it rains otherwise the rain will just fall in. Canopy At the time of writing this post I could not find a bespoke footprint for the Eurohike Sendero 4, but the Eurohike Air 400 footprint is compatible with the Sendero 4 too – get the Eurohike Air 400 footprint here. The Eurohike Sendero 4 is a decent family tent that is compact, has good weather protection, it is easy to pitch and carry around. It has loads of room, however it might be a bit tight for four adults, but could make a great tent for a family of f our.I’ve always wanted to write a Eurohike Rydal 500 review just to let everyone know how brilliant this tent is for a family. In fact, it is a brilliant entry-level tent not just for families, but for everyone from 2-5 people occupancy. The inner tent is a dark rest design. This means it is a darker material on purpose to reduce glare and to let you sleep longer in the morning. This is a new trend in the tent building industry, please see more about it in my separate text. You can see a long list of such dark rest tents here. The doors In the summary of this Eurohike Rydal 500 Tent review I must say I love the concept of this tent. They know the importance of a large living area in the camp. The weather is not always great and you may be forced to stay inside, so you have to have a place for cooking and sitting, and it is high enough that you can walk inside. Polyester is lightweight but not breathable if there is a coating applied, so condensation is going to be an issue especially with a sewn-in groundsheet. The Eurohike Rydal 500 is quite lightweight and easy to carry in its carrybag. It weighs only 14.6 kgs, and the carrybag is not bigger than 75cm x 33cm x 33cm, so it fits into the smaller boots too, or you can put it in the roofbox if you’d like to.

The shell fabric is polyester with a 2000 mm waterproof rating. So this is a great number and this should be enough for any rain in a 3-season use. They do not provide info about the groundsheet rating, it is probably the same rating, and it is fully sewn-in and all seams are taped. I wouldn't worry too much about it only being 2000mm HH. It is unlikely to leak directly through the material itself. My very first large tunnel tent was a Eurohike of only 1500mm HH and it weathered many a storm, although the seams leaked which was typical of Eurohikes at that time (about 13 years ago). I would hope the seams are now taped and properly sealed.Clearly, this is far more than you need and the declared capacity is truly generous. Though, the sleeping area looks too narrow for the 5 people sleeping on pads. It would be far better for 4 people. But as you realize you have a huge living room with more than 6 square meters of the fully protected area where several more people can sleep. The floor plan and dimensions. It is a PE footprint with 10,000mm HH waterproof rating to keep the bottom of your tent protected from the damp and muddy ground, the pegs are included. Replacement poles
